Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix
A Homemade, Better-Than-Store Version of the Iconic Fall Blend
Every October, Pumpkin Spice takes over, and whether you roll your eyes or roll with it, there’s one thing you can’t deny: the warming, cozy spice blend known as Pumpkin Pie Spice is truly something special.
While pumpkin spice lattes may have become a meme-worthy symbol of fall elitism, the spice blend behind it is nothing short of genius.
The problem? This stuff is ridiculously overpriced—$7 to $8 for a tiny jar, and half the time it’s sold out. So let’s skip the overpriced branding and make our own blend that tastes better, costs less, and works in everything from lattes to pies.
What to use it?
- Bake a pumpkin roll
- Add it to your milk coffee or espresso
- Sprinkle on roasted pumpkin or sweet potatoes
- Mix a pinch into cottage cheese with honey
- Toss with baked apples or pears
- Make gingerbread cookies or spiced winter cakes
These same spices are perfect for winter teas and mulled wine

Notes
💡 If you have a spice grinder, you can grind whole spices for a fresher, more aromatic blend. Just be aware that your grinder may smell like fall for a while.
